    Dr. Barton Goldsmith

Licensed Psychotherapist, nationally syndicated columnist and radio talk show host, Barton Goldsmith, Ph.D., is an internationally recognized counselor, author and speaker, who has appeared on and been quoted by numerous TV and Radio shows as well as national magazines including ABC, CBS, Cosmopolitan and Working Mother. His weekly column, Emotional Fitness, which is syndicated by Scripps-Howard News Service has run in The Chicago Sun-Times, The Orange County Register, The Ventura County Star, The Detroit News, The Cincinnati Post, The San Diego Union-Tribune, The King County Journal, and over 100 other newspapers, giving him a readership of over a million. He has also written articles for over 200 other publications.

Dr. Goldsmith also hosts a weekly radio show on the most award-winning station in Southern California, KCLU/NPR, which has approximately 80,000 listeners in Los Angeles, Ventura and Santa Barbara. He was a regular on Dr. David Viscott's programs and was called, "Our best guest ever!" and has been a member of The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences since 1982. Dr. Goldsmith collaborated with best-selling author Louise L. Hay on A Garden of Thoughts (Hay House 1990) and with Chicken Soup for the Soul co-creator Mark Victor Hansen on The Miracle of Tithing (published in 2004). His new book "Emotional Fitness for Couples: 10 Minutes a Day to a Better Relationship" is being published by New Harbinger and will be released on Valentine's Day (February 14) 2006. He is in high demand as a keynote speaker and presents to groups all over the world.

Dr. Goldsmith trained with renowned psychiatrist and author Elizabeth Kubler-Ross, M.D. and David Bressler, Ph.D., founder of the UCLA Pain Control Clinic. He is a member of the adjunct faculty at Ryokan College, has been a guest lecturer at numerous educational institutions and was a National Merit Scholar. He received recognition from the City of Los Angeles for his work with survivors of the1994 earthquake. As well as being a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, he is also a Certified Addictions Counselor.

He began working in the field of psychology when his career in professional basketball was cut short because he only grew to five foot six inches tall.
